While its bigger brother (the Galaxy Tab 10.1) is slowly making its way into US shops, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet from Samsung has received a release schedule which says it will become available in at least four European countries (Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark) this September.
Announced in March, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 measures 230.9 x 157.8 x 8.6 mm, and features a 1GHz Tegra 2 chip, an 8.9-inch (1280 x 800) touchscreen,?21Mbps HSPA+, a rear-facing 3 megapixel camera (can record 720p video) with LED flash, a front 2MP camera, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a digital compass, a microSD slot, stereo speakers, an USB 2.0 port and a 6000 mAh battery.
The incoming tablet runs Android Honeycomb (3.1 most likely) and will have 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. In Finland the WiFi-only Galaxy Tab 8.9 will start at ?499, while the 3G models will start(?) at ?649.
