Kerry Williams of Slidell has been selected by USA Football to attend the 2012 NFL/USA Football Youth?Summit in Canton, Ohio.
Williams was selected as the representative of Louisiana through an essay application. Williams is the president for the Metropolitan Youth Foundation, which is comprised of more than 125 youth football players.
"I'm most excited about meeting with peers and colleagues from around the country and asking them about the best practices for their leagues that they incorporate and what works for them," Williams said. "I'm looking to get some feedback from the people that have been running leagues for many years. We're looking at more programming that is related to the sport, not just the Xs and Os, but where we the children can grow."
Nearly 200 high school and youth football coaches will gather?for the summit?to discuss topics such as concussion awareness and?management, injury prevention, the importance of concussion?treatment and prevention, and age-appropriate skill development.
"We're pleased to have Kerry contribute to this discussion on a national level at this summer's youth football summit in Canton, thanks to the support of the NFL and its players," USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck said.
