Whether you consider yourself a professional on the slopes or a keen beginner, France has some fantastic ski holidays available. A favourite ski destination with many, France offers more options for skiers than any other country in the world. Here?s my pick of three of France?s finest.
Chamonix ? The Oldest Ski Resort in France
?
?
?
As well as being the oldest ski resort in France, Chamonix is one of the most visited natural sites in the world. Nestled just at the foot of Europe?s highest summit, Mont-Blanc, this resort never fails to give skiers the most exhilarating time. Boasting over 150kms of ski runs and endless off piste opportunities, including the legendary Vall?e Blanche, Chamonix offers an awe-inspiring skiing experience for all levels.
When it comes to Chamonix?s ski season, it tends to start around the middle of December, however, this really does depend on the snow conditions. It has been known to begin much sooner. The season comes to an end at the beginning of May. Chamonix?s ski terrain is split into three sections ? all of which are conveniently linked by an efficient shuttle bus.
Besides skiing, Chamonix?s other attractions include the Aiguille du Midi cable car and the red cog-wheel train of Montenvers, which climbs its way to the famous glacier, Mer de Glace. An area of outstanding natural beauty, don?t forget your camera.
Les Deux Alpes ? Europe?s Largest Skiable Glacier
?
?
Being the largest skiable glacier in Europe, it goes without saying; Les Deux Alpes is right up there when it comes to the best ski destinations in the world. Set in the spectacular mountain region of Is?re, Les Deux is the second-oldest ski resort in France ? and offers the skier a staggering 225km to explore. As well as having the most thrilling runs on offer, other leisure activities are available too, including rock climbing, paragliding and rafting. And, during a stay in this beautiful region, a wander around the charming craft village of Venosc is a must.

Meribel ? Nestled in between the Three Valleys
?
?
?
Found in the centre of the Three Valleys, Meribel is one of the most popular and stunning ski areas in France. Offering a whopping 604km of continuously linked piste, as well as countless off piste opportunities, it?s no surprise that avid skiers venture to Meribel year after year. From beginners, intermediates to advanced, there?s something for all abilities too. Meribel?s lift system is ultra modern, with queues virtually unheard of, another bonus.
When it comes to spending some time off the slopes, Meribel is situated near the pretty town of Moutiers. Made up of narrow streets, traditional architecture and inviting restaurants, places to visit in Moutiers include the Palace of the Archbishop Counts and Cathedral Saint-Pierre.
With its incredible skiing, breathtaking scenery and countless opportunities to explore, Meribel certainly ticks all the right boxes when it comes to ski holidays in France
