Santorum picks up delegates with Kansas victory

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Rick Santorum won 33 delegates in the Kansas Republican presidential caucuses Saturday, but Mitt Romney limited the damage by winning delegates in three U.S territories.

For the day, Santorum added 36 delegates and Romney added 31.One delegate was still undecided in Wyoming, which was wrapping up county conventions that started on Tuesday.

Santorum and Romney both won a few delegates in Wyoming. Romney picked up a total of 22 delegates in Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands.

Ron Paul won a single delegate in the Virgin Islands, while Newt Gingrich was shut out for the day.

Romney leads the overall race for delegates with 453. That includes endorsements from members of the Republican National Committee who automatically attend the nominating convention this summer and can support any candidate they choose.

Santorum has 217 delegates, followed by Gingrich with 107 and Ron Paul with 47.

It will take 1,144 delegates to win the Republican nomination to face President Barack Obama in the fall.
